Graveside services for James Michael Freeman, 68, of Hudson will be held Friday, May 24, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Baker-Bell Cemetery in Tyler County near Warren, Texas with Pastor Myrton Thompson officiating.
Mr. Freeman was born April 14, 1956 in Kountze, Texas to the late Annie (Martin) and Rev. Elbert Freeman, and died Saturday, May 18, 2024 in a local hospital.
James had served as City Administrator for the City of Hudson for more than 20 years. He loved his community and supported it wholeheartedly. He coached young men in the Hudson Youth Baseball program more than 35 years. He enjoyed hunting and being outdoors, but more than anything he loved spoiling his grandchildren! James was a lifetime member of the Wells Masonic Lodge #915 A.F. & A.M.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Kaleb and Maisie Freeman, Derrick and Corinne Brown, all of Hudson; daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Jones of Hudson; grandchildren, Kason Freeman, Kensie Freeman, Benjamin Brown, Anna Brown, Ayden Jones; sister and brother-in-law, Reba and James Bennett of Buna; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Joshua Ben Freeman; sister, Patricia Parsons; and brother, David Sims.
Pallbearers will be Pete Johnson, Rodney McCarty, Rick Hellwig, David Womack, Michael Lunsford, Dalton Stanley, Jeff Burns, and Tom Alderman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lonnie Windham, Henry Freeman, Kenneth Freeman, Bruce Freeman, and Ray Allen Freeman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Texas Gulf Coast Chapter, 50 Briar Hollow Lane, Suite 300W, Houston, Texas 77027-9398.
