James Allen Fletcher

Funeral services for James Allen Fletcher, 81, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Horace Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Berry Cemetery.

Mr. Fletcher was born April 18, 1936 in Groveton, Texas to the late Allie Boneta (Trawick) and A.D. Fletcher, and died Thursday, January 11, 2018 at The Joseph House.

Mr. Fletcher resided in the Lufkin area most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. Mr. Fletcher retired from Southland Paper Mill following 18 years of employment and was an Independent Contractor for J.W.C.I., Inc. for more than 10 years. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Mr. Fletcher was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 60 1/2 years, Betty (Berry) Fletcher of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Wanda Fletcher of Lufkin and Dennis and Toni Fletcher of Aledo; daughter and son-in-law, Martha Ann and Kenneth Keely of Huntington; grandchildren, Lindsey, Mitchell, Phillip, Dustin, Wesley, Colt, and Lillie; nine great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Horace and Dorothy Fletcher of Lufkin; sister-in-law, Martha Carole Berry of Lufkin; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Sherry and Talmadge Hyde of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert Fletcher; daughter, Julie Cooper; granddaughters, Cheynne Fletcher and Natalie Foster; brother and sister-in-law, Arthur Morris and Nan Fletcher; mother-in-law, Ruth Berry; brother-in-law, Irving Ray Berry; and his favorite dog, Daisy.

Pallbearers will be Colt Jordan, Wesley Paine, Andy Wright, Mike Brevell, Matt Keely, and Kenneth Keely.

Honorary pallbearers will be the kids who worked at Sonic from 1979 to 1987.

The family extends special thanks to Huntington Healthcare for their love and attention, as well as The Joseph House and the angels who work there.
