Visitation for James D. “Jim” Ethridge, 60, of Ratcliff will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Carroway Funeral Home. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.
Mr. Ethridge was born January 31, 1958 in Joaquin, Texas to Willie Mae (Cockrell) and Vance DeVille Ethridge, and died Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at his residence.
Mr. Ethridge had resided in Ratcliff for 15 years. He enjoyed hunting and you could always find him “piddling” with something. Mr. Ethridge adored his grandchildren, they were the light of his life. He loved his sons greatly, and dearly loved his momma. He was a “momma’s boy”. Mr. Ethridge was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his partner of 30 years, Shirley Blackburn of Ratcliff; mother and stepfather, Willie Mae and J.T. Furlow of Shelbyville; sons, Stevie Ethridge of Ratcliff and Jay Blackburn and wife Jessica of Central; stepdaughters, Sabrina Bowman of Livingston and Trisha Wheeler of Pearland; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Brenda Smith of Carthage and Janet Broadway of Shelbyville; brother, James Ray Collum of Shelbyville; mother-in-law, Carolyn Cobb Williams of Burke; sister-in-law, Mary Hill of Burke; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vance Ethridge; son, Thomas Eric Ethridge; and brother, Richard Vance Ethridge.
