James "Mike" Bass

Graveside services for James “Mike” Bass, 66, of Alvin, previously of Lufkin, will be held Wednesday, November 4, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in the Fairview Cemetery with Brother Gary Rowe officiating.

Mr. Bass was born August 19, 1960 in Nacogdoches, Texas to the late Cora Maxine (Murray) and Thomas Eugene Bass, and died Saturday, October 31, 2026 in Alvin, Texas.

Mike had worked as a construction worker most of his life. He enjoyed riding his Harley, fishing, and was an avid Astros and Texans fan. He was a loving and proud father and grandfather, and adored his cat, Peanut, who was his constant companion. Mike enjoyed spending time with his family, cooking his famous BBQ meals for them and drinking beer. Mike was of the Christian faith.

Survivors include his son, James Bass and wife Lacie of Alvin; granddaughter, Kacie Bass-Gordon and husband Jax, of Conroe; grandson Lane Bass of Alvin; son, M.J. Bass and wife Dayna of Alvin; grandchildren, Thomas, Khloee, Michael, Kimber, James, Shayna-Sue; sister, Joann Garton and husband Donny of Lufkin; brother, Lockey Bass and wife Brenda of Lufkin; and numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Tommy Bass; and sister, Maxie Biggs.

Pallbearers will be Ochoa, Mudcat, Pinkie, Raul, Jax, and Knuckles.
