Jack Roberts, Jr.

Funeral services for Jack Roberts, Jr., 86, of Lufkin will be held Friday, October 5, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jackson Colwell officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in the Old Union Cemetery.

Mr. Roberts was born October 8, 1931 in the Trawick Community of Nacogdoches County, Texas to the late Maude (Sims) and Jack Roberts, Sr., and died Sunday, September 30, 2018 at his residence.

Mr. Roberts had resided in Lufkin for more than 50 years and previously in Zavalla, having graduated from Zavalla High School. He was employed at Lufkin Industries for 35 years as a machinist. After serving his country in the United States Army, he became a lifetime member of the Korean Veterans Association, holding the position of Angelina County Veterans Service Officer from 1991-2002. He was also a member of the Lufkin VFW Post #1836 for 50 years, serving as Commander for eight years and District Commander for one year. Mr. Roberts enjoyed fishing, hunting, and woodworking. He was a very loving husband, father, and grandfather who was always willing to help others. He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Faye (Allbritton) Roberts of Lufkin; son, Thomas Jimmy Haynes of Cleveland; daughter, Juanita Christine (Haynes) Wells and husband Ben Wayne of Kennard; son, Edward DeWayne Roberts and wife Amanda of Arkansas; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Prentice E. Roberts and wife Jo of Granbury and Ernest C. Roberts; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, David Haynes.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Wheeler, Joseph Wells, Kip Cummings, James Bledsoe, DeWayne Roberts, and Ben Wells.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chris White, Ryan White, and Logan Nelson.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
