Funeral services for Jack Arnold Modisette, 83, of Lufkin will be held Monday, December 1, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Willie Wooten officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Jack Arnold Modisette was born on August 6, 1942 in Lufkin, Texas to the late C.J. “Jack” and Jennie Mae Modisette. He went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 27, 2025 in a local hospital.
Jack was raised in the Redland area and later moved to Wortham, Texas in his preteen years. He was a graduate of Wortham High School. He joined the US Navy at 17 years of age where he served his country honorably from 1960 to 1963. Jack returned home to Wortham where he met the love of his life, Glenda Wilson, in 1963. They married in 1965 and moved to Lufkin, Texas. Jack and Glenda remained faithfully committed to each other for 60 years. They raised two daughters who were the light of their lives. Jack was a devoted husband and father. He took care of his family and home diligently. He could always be found in his overalls with a hammer or a paintbrush in his hand doing whatever needed to be done. He was a skilled woodworker and enjoyed creating keepsakes for his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed helping his children and grandchildren with projects in their homes. Jack wasn’t one for grand declarations or flowery speeches. Every repaired light fixture, mended toy or appliance brought back from the brink was a quiet testament of his love for his family. He enjoyed mowing and yard work. He would volunteer to help neighbors keep their yards as well. He taught all of his grandchildren to drive, but those driving lessons contained more than just how to back up or make left hand turns. He was passing along valuable life lessons and creating priceless memories that his grandchildren will treasure. Jack was a member of Herty Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Jack worked at Southland Paper Mill for 36 years where he retired as a Pulp Mill Supervisor in 2001.
