Irvin Lowell Golden

Irvin Lowell Golden, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away August 30, 2019, in Corrigan, Texas at the age of 80.

A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church of Corrigan on Saturday, September 7, 2019, at 10:30 am.

Irvin was born in the front bedroom of his childhood home in Channelview, Texas, in 1939, the youngest of four siblings.  He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, Texas in 1957. After an honorable discharge from service in the United States Army, he began a career with Ethyl/Albemarle Corporation in Pasadena, Texas.  He worked there for 30 years and retired to Corrigan, Texas and renewed a lifelong relationship with the Lord as a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Irvin first laid eyes on Darlene Flynn when she was 16 and he was 18.  Three years later, they decided they were meant to be together and married on January 21, 1961 and had two loving children. They shared 59 years of marriage in Pasadena and Carmona.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Darlene; their son, Greg Golden and wife Becki; sister, Orlea Dudley and husband Herbert Lee; sister-in-law, Shelia Spross and husband Fred; brother-in-law, Mike Flynn and wife Janet; son-in-law, Robert Chavez; grandchildren, Justin and wife Selene, Tyler, Nicholas, Bailey, Madison, Allyson, Spencer; 4 great granddaughters; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Irvin is preceded in death by his father, Mabin Alexander Golden; mother, Willie Eugenia Golden; brother, Mabin Alexander Golden Jr., and wife Lavon; sister, Billie Rose Neal; daughter, Paige Marie Golden-Chavez; and other beloved relatives.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Carmona Cemetery Association, P. O. Box 71, Corrigan, Texas 75939, or the First United Methodist Church, 101 N. Market St, Corrigan, Texas 75939, in Irvin’s name.
