Inez King Martin

Funeral services for Inez King Martin, 92, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Roger Fancher officiating. Interment will follow in the Concord Cemetery.  Inez was born May 18, 1925 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Rubie Inez (Haynes) and David Oliver “Dave” Moseley, and died Monday, September 11, 2017 at her residence.  Inez graduated from Lufkin High School, Class of 1943, and then attended business school. She worked with Wilburn King in his accounting business until his death in 1967. Together they were partners in the Million Dollar Inn on North Padre Island. Inez then worked as a payroll and insurance clerk for A N Rusche, Gulf/Chevron Distributing Company, and Mr. Car Washes in the Houston area until her retirement at age 67. Following her retirement, Inez was an Avon Representative for the next 21 years, retiring at 88 years of age.  Inez loved her church, Bald Hill Baptist Church, and never missed a day. She was a member of the Ruth Sunday School class and head of the church prayer chain. In Houston she was very active at Forrest Cove Church.  Inez enjoyed painting with tri-chem paints and had a green thumb when working her flower beds. She loved boating, spending time at the beach, and traveling to the mountains.  Survivors include daughter, Beth Knight of Lufkin; grandson, Mike Spiers of Lufkin; great-grandsons, Alan Spiers of Houston and Albert Stanley of Lake Charles, Louisiana; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other close relatives, and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Wilburn King; second husband, C.L. Martin; and sister, Martha Mae Griffith.  Pallbearers will be Alan Spiers, Albert Stanley, Sammy Weaver, Don Gilsdorf, Charles Freeman, William Mangrum, and Larry Wright.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Huntress, Leslie Staggs, Don Weisner, and Don Griffith.  Memorial contributions may be made to Bald Hill Baptist Church, 128 Leon Tillman Road, Lufkin, Texas 75901, American Cancer Society, 212 Gene Samford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75904, Heart to Heart Hospice, 209 Christie Street, Lufkin, Texas 75904, or The Hospice of East Texas, 1012 North Street, Nacogdoches, Texas 75961.  The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.  Memories and condolences may be added, and live webcasting of the services may be viewed at www.carrowayfuneralhome.com .   Carroway Funeral Home, Lufkin, directors.
