Funeral services for Hubert “Ike” Turner, 94, of Lufkin will be held Monday, July 30, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Edward Chaney officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mr. Turner was born February 27, 1924 in Groveton, Texas to the late Annie Ophelia (Farr) and John Wesley Dawson Turner, and died Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at his residence.
Mr. Turner had resided in the Lufkin area all of his life. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He retired from working at the Paper Mill. He was a member of the Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M. and the Lufkin VFW Post #1836.
Survivors include his daughters, Shari Lopp of Jones, Oklahoma, Tammy Brown and husband Jeff of Moody, and Micki Chaney and husband Edward of Mount Enterprise; grandchildren, Cale Lopp and wife Meg, Jessie Dolzel and husband Jeremy, Colin Lopp and wife Joy, Jamie Lopp, Jodie Cowan and husband Mike, Christopher Slaughter and wife Amanda, Kalyn Brown, Lydia Bender and husband Patrick, Jeremy Holster and wife Amanda, Russell Holster and wife Renee, and Jack Yeates and wife Brandi; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Shirley Mae Turner.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Slaughter, Cale Lopp, Jeremy Holster, Colin Lopp, Russell Holster, and Kalyn Brown.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
