Hubert Dale Kirkland

Graveside services for Hubert Dale Kirkland, 67, of Lufkin will be held Friday, December 6, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Paul Nerren Cemetery on Willie Nerren Road with Reverend Martin Doran and Reverend Becky Love officiating.

Mr. Kirkland was born April 2, 1957 in Lufkin to the late Johnnie (Griffin) and Grady Willie Kirkland, and died Tuesday, December 3, 2024 in a local nursing home.

Mr. Kirkland was a lifelong resident of Lufkin and graduated from Lufkin High School in 1976. He worked as a millwright at the Paper Mill for 26 years. He was a hard worker and reliable in his service to his family, friends, work, and church. He was a member of Huntington United Methodist Church. Hubert was an avid hunter and fisherman and he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Pamela Kirkland of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Alison and Kevin Thigpen of Pollok; son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Shawna Kirkland of Aurora, Colorado; granddaughter, Abbee Thigpen of Pollok; grandson, Landon Thigpen of Pollok; “bonus” granddaughter, Megan Simonds; “bonus” grandson, Ian Marshall; brother and sister-in-law, Grady, Jr. and Mary Kirkland of Tomball; sisters and brother-in-law, Loretta Graybill of Lufkin, Lisa and Ray Modisett of Huntington; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and special friend, Stanley Temple.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Drake Nerren, Pryde Nerren, Carson Nerren, Jacob Graybill, Ty Huff, and Tony Rice.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Mason, Kevin Thigpen, Jamie Getro, Ray Modisett, and Stanley Temple.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
