Hortencia Minerva "Mommy" Maldonado De Garza

Funeral services for Hortencia Minerva “Mommy” Maldonado De Garza, 65, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Fr. Raymundo Garcia officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Mrs. Maldonado was born October 19, 1953 in Rio Bravo, Tamaulipas, Mexico to the late Rita (Garza) and Artemio Garza, and passed away Saturday, November 24, 2018 in a local hospital with her family by her side.

Mrs. Maldonado was a daycare owner and seamstress. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and sewing. She also loved decorating and going antiquing. Most of all, she loved her family dearly. Mrs. Maldonado was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Jesus Maldonado of Lufkin; children and their spouses, Jose and Stephanie Maldonado, Isaura and Jacob Warrington, Carlos Maldonado and Irasema Contreras, and Laura Maldonado; grandchildren, Hazel Maldonado, Daizy Rodriguez, Grant Warrington, and William Warrington; siblings, Teodoro Garza, Luis Garza, Luciano Garza, and Arturo Garza; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister and brother-in-law, Sanjuanita and Jose Marquez.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, prior to the service, at the funeral home with Rosary recited at 12:00 noon.
