Hope Ellis

Funeral services for Hope Ellis, 54, of Huntington will be held Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at First Ora Missionary Baptist Church in Huntington with Pastor Steven Willis officiating. Interment will follow in McNiel Cemetery.

Hope was born September 27, 1971 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Joy Dene (Roberts) and John Asalf Ellis, Jr., and died Monday, July 20, 2026 in a Louisiana hospital.

Hope was a lifelong resident of Huntington. She enjoyed art, cross stitching, crocheting, playing games and going to church. She was a member of First Ora Missionary Baptist Church and also the East Texas Neuro Support Group. Hope’s life was a miracle, as she was not expected to live long after birth, and she was proud of every day. Hope will be truly missed by all who were blessed to have known her.

Survivors include her brother, Gary Ellis of Huntington; sister, Mary Golden and husband David of Huntington; nieces and nephews and their spouses, Lando and Amy Ellis, Josh and Crystal Ellis, Tyson and Lisa Ellis, Brandi Ellis, Ange Lee, Megan Rhodes, Cord Sheard, Macy Sheard; along with numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Junior and Joy Ellis; sister, Karen Ellis; sister-in-law, Anna Ellis; brother-in-law, Chris Sheard; and nephew, Syd Rhodes.

Pallbearers will be Lando Ellis, Josh Ellis, Tyson Ellis, and Cord Sheard.

Honorary pallbearers will be her great-nephews.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at First Ora Missionary Baptist Church in Huntington.
