Henry Floyd Smith, Jr.

Funeral services with military honors for Henry Floyd Smith, Jr., 82, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Richard Smith and Karl Smith officiating. Cremation arrangements will follow under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Mr. Smith was born December 22, 1942 in Beaumont, Texas to the late Lois (Bridges) and Henry Floyd Smith, Sr., and passed from this life Friday, October 17, 2025 in Houston, Texas.

Henry was a resident of Lufkin and a native of Hemphill. He was a retired veteran, having served in the US Army and the US Navy. He had numerous overseas postings, including tours in Vietnam and Thailand. His last Army posting was in Canal Zone, Panama, where he met and married the love of his life, Nora. They were married October 26, 1976. He and Nora made their home in Panama until 2018 when they moved to Lufkin.

Survivors include his devoted and loving wife, Nora Smith of Lufkin; three sons and four daughters, Karl Smith and wife Mary of Starks, Louisiana, Kimberly Stidham and husband Van of Hemphill, Belinda Swzwezyk of Germany, Melissa Holloway and husband Quinton of Waynesville, Missouri; Heidi Smith of Germany, Henry F. Smith III and wife LuzMery of San Antonio, John Smith of Goldsboro, North Carolina; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters, Ron Smith and wife Linda of Lufkin, Annette Tompkins and husband Larry of Lufkin; Paul Smith and wife Cathy of Orange, Linda Sigler of Lufkin, Richard Smith and wife Tammie of Otis, Louisiana; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon prior to the service.
