Helen Marie Temple

Funeral services for Helen Marie Temple, 92, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Burl McBride III officiating. Interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery.

Mrs. Temple was born July 12, 1925 in Carthage, Texas to the late Ethel (Cox) and Jones Allen Harrison, and died Saturday, June 16, 2018 in a local nursing home.

Mrs. Temple resided in the Lufkin area most of her life. She was a waitress at Petty’s Restaurant for many years. Mrs. Temple was also a homemaker who was known for her cornbread dressing and desserts, especially her pecan pie which was Lewis’ Birthday favorite. Mrs. Temple enjoyed TV game shows, especially Wheel of Fortune and Family Feud. She loved garage sale shopping. Mrs. Temple was a member of Redland Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Dan Grdinich of Cut N Shoot; grandchildren, Elaine Williams of El Lago, Lewis Temple and wife Chrissy of Lufkin, Lindsay Burks and husband Peter of Corrigan, Kenna McMullen and husband Brad of Apple Springs, Ralph Rushing and wife Becky of Indiana, Mary Catherine Herron and husband Donny of Cut N Shoot, Melissa Ann Travis and husband Doug of Cut N Shoot; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Johnny Lewis Temple; son, Jim Temple; and infant daughter, Ethel Leona Temple.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Thornhill, Terry Lynn Thornhill, Jr., Cary Griffith and Spencer Kirk.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
