Funeral services for Harold Smithhart, 82, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Charles M. Roberts and Pastor Jacob Fitzgerald officiating. Entombment services with military honors will follow at the Garden of Memories Memorial Park Sunset Mausoleum.
Mr. Smithhart was born November 29, 1935 in Nacogdoches, Texas to the late Geneva (Parrish) and James Edgar Smithhart, and died Saturday, November 3, 2018 in a local hospital.
Mr. Smithhart was a lifetime resident of Angelina County and a 1954 graduate of Central High School. He served in the U.S Army from 1954 to 1957 and retired as a Maintenance Superintendent from Champion Paper Mill following 38 years of employment. After retirement he owned and operated Precision Machine Service, Inc. from 1996 to 2003. Mr. Smithhart loved hunting and fishing, cooking, and trying new recipes. He was a faithful member of Denman Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include his precious wife of 60 years, Jo Ann (Oliver) Smithhart of Lufkin; beloved daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Gerald Kendrick, Phyllis and Terry Carlton, all of Lufkin; grandchildren, Trent Kendrick, Jack Carlton, and Caroline Carlton; sisters-in-law, Mary Smithhart of Lufkin, Melba Wise of Nacogdoches, and Bertha McKnight of Huffman; and special nieces and nephews, Billy McKnight, Brenda Wise, Joe McKnight, Karl Smithhart, Suzanne Hobbs, Tricia Jelinek, Deanna Hoffman, and Steve Wise.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charles Smithhart.
Pallbearers will be Trent Kendrick, Jack Carlton, Karl Smithhart, Billy McKnight, Joe McKnight, and Steve Wise.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gerald Kendrick, Terry Carlton, and David Stone.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
