Harold Edwin Scroggins, Sr.

Funeral services for Harold Edwin Scroggins, Sr., 87, of the Homer Community will be held Friday, February 23, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Carl Lundberg officiating. Interment will follow in the Homer Cemetery.

Mr. Scroggins was born January 7, 1931 in the Homer Community of Angelina County, Texas to the late Claudia (Weaver) and Siegel Scroggins, and died Tuesday, February 20, 2018 in Lufkin.

Mr. Scroggins was a lifetime resident of Homer. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard and owned and operated HESCO Supply for over 30 years. Mr. Scroggins was an avid reader and history buff, loved to dance, and was a great jokester and storyteller. Harold loved to garden, mow with his tractors and watch his birds. He was a committed family man and a member of Homer United Methodist Church.

Mr. Scroggins was a wealth of knowledge, which he shared unselfishly, and was quick to lend a helping hand.

Survivors include his wife, Bettie (Weaver) Scroggins of Homer; sons and daughters-in-law, Harold E. “Harry” and Teresa Scroggins, Michael Scroggins, all of Lufkin, and Richard and Lyndsey Scroggins of Houston; daughter, Melissa Mitchell of Houston; grandchildren, Clifton Earl Scroggins, Ivy Jennett Claire, Zachary Ethan Trotter, and Samuel Taylor Mitchell; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Harold E. “Trey” Scroggins III; brother, Robert Scroggins; and sister, Frances Gibson.

Pallbearers will be Kim Reynolds, Cary Kirby, Kirk Risinger, Eldon Fuller, Jeff Durant, and Steve Powell.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
