Harold Stephen Gregory

Funeral services for Harold Stephen Gregory, 69, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Harold Seago officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in the Stryker Cemetery in Corrigan.

Mr. Gregory was born November 21, 1948 in Dallas, Texas to the late Willie Mae (Jones) and Howard Earnest Gregory, and died Friday, January 26, 2018 in the VA Hospital in Houston.

Mr. Gregory had resided in Lufkin since 1980. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from September 14, 1967 to January 23, 1980. During his service he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/Device, Combat Action Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, and Good Conduct Medal (3).

Mr. Gregory was a longtime employee of Sumners AC and most recently drove a truck for Dana Corp. He loved doing genealogy and working with sheet metal and wood. Mr. Gregory was Church of Christ by faith.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Janet (Haverland) Gregory of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Nora and Dwain Vail of Pollok; grandchildren and spouses, Courtney and Dustin Dorcz, Darryl, Jr. and Joslyn Duff, Jesse Vail and April Moore, and Wyatt Vail; great-grandchildren, Haylie Dorcz, Madyson Dorcz, Braxton Dorcz, Karsyn Duff, Kenlee Duff, and Austin Vail; sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Alan James of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Michelle Duff; son, Billy Lonis; sister, Sharon Griffith; and brother, Mike Gregory.

Pallbearers will be Jesse Vail, Dustin Dorcz, Darryl Duff, Jr., Shawn Kissinger, Dwain Vail, and Perry Don Henson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Maddux and Wilburn Ward.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday morning prior to the services.
