Funeral services for Harold Junior Byrd will be held Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mark Wilke officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Memorial Park. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon prior to the services.

Harold Junior Byrd, 96, of Lufkin, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on August 26, 2025. He passed peacefully in his sleep, the way he always prayed that he would go. He was born on November 2, 1928, in Rattan, Sabine Parish, Louisiana to the late Carrie Augusta (Lynch) and Neely Hunter Byrd. He lived a long life marked by love, faith, and service to his family, friends, and community.

Harold was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pat, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage and family life. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Tom Dozier of Livermore, California, and Becky and Barry Forrest of Lufkin, Texas. He was a proud grandfather to Melissa (Dave), Mark, Amy (Wes), James, Russ (Carissa), Rachel (David), and Brooke, and a cherished great-grandfather to 13 great-grandchildren from ages 23yrs to 3 months. He also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will remember him with love.

Harold faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict in the Engineer Construction Battalion. Following his military service, he worked as a heavy equipment operator for 35 years with Gulf/Chevron Refinery in Port Arthur, Texas, where he was respected for his skill, dedication, and work ethic. Upon retirement, Harold and Pat established their home in Lufkin, Texas for the last 35+ years.

A man of strong faith, Harold was a devoted member of Carpenter’s Way Church in Lufkin, where he worshipped and built lasting relationships within his church family.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Caleb Sunday School Class.
