Funeral services for Hal Randy Hawthorne, 35, of Lufkin will be held Friday, July 15, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joe Sawyer officiating. Interment will follow in the Prairie Grove Cemetery.
Hal was born April 9, 1987 in Lufkin, Texas, to Sherri Renea (Patton) and Hal Randal Hawthorne, and died Saturday, July 9, 2022 in Lufkin, from injuries sustained in an accident. He was a lifetime resident of Lufkin.
Hal was “a real handyman”. If the apocalypse were to ever happen, he would be the one to take care of us. He was always the one to help people who needed it. Hal loved doing fireworks with the kids. In fact, anything he could blow up he would, especially if it would annoy his loved ones. He loved to hunt and fish and made sure to keep the freezer stocked.
Hal was baptized at nine years old and was an ordained minister. He was excited to marry everybody, but nobody would let him though. He loved his family fiercely, no matter how much he aggravated them. If he could rope his son Raidyn, and his grandkids into his shenanigans, he especially would.
Hal was an avid motorcycle rider and wasn’t afraid to live life. According to him, "You’ll live more in five minutes on a motorcycle going flat out than someone can in their whole life”.
His greatest reward in life was fulfilling his role in being a dad and “Pops”.
Survivors include his wife, Brook Lavon Hawthorne of Lufkin; children and their spouses, Galen Yarbrough, Jazzmyn (Yarbrough) and Andrew Arabie, Jada (Yarbrough) and Matthew Lowery, Jalisa and Jimmy Jones, Jr., and Hal Raidyn Hawthorne, all of Lufkin; mother and stepfather, Sherri and Robert “Dusty” Montgomery of Diboll; sisters and brothers-in-law, Catheryn and Tony Luna of Hudson and Sheila and Chris Nobles of Overton; brother, Sean Hawthorne of Lufkin; and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hal Randal Hawthorne; and grandparents, Merlene (Clark) Hawthorne Kilcrease and Buren Bueford Hawthorne and Gladys and Ray Mettlen.
Pallbearers will be Sean Hawthorne, Dillon Tobias, Brandon Cortines, David Fussell, Kyle Willis, and Grant Bowman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Hal Raidyn Hawthorne, Galen Yarbrough, Andrew Arabie, Matthew Lowery, Jimmy Jones, Jr., and Trey Debrone.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening and 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
