Gregg Stephen Durham

August 6, 1968 — November 1, 2024

Following a vigilant fight with cancer, Gregg Stephen Durham, 56, of Lufkin, Texas, went home to rest in the arms of his Father, surrounded by his devoted family and close friends. Gregg was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, and friend.

Gregg’s life was a tapestry of devotion, love, humor, and unwavering loyalty. Known for his kind heart and genuine spirit, he touched countless lives, leaving a legacy of faith, laughter, and friendship. To those who knew him, Gregg was more than just a loved one—he was a guiding light, a protector, and a source of humor and joy. He was lovingly known by many names such as BK, Greggy, Godfather, Grumps and Scregg, and he cherished his role in each of these relationships.

Gregg was a man of deep faith and found purpose in serving others and the Lord. His life’s mission was not to build a legacy but to inspire others in faith. His devotion extended to his family, who meant everything to him. Gregg found immense joy in traveling, sharing meals, and creating unforgettable memories with loved ones. An enthusiastic foodie, Gregg loved trying new barbecue joints and sharing his culinary creations with friends and family. Some of his greatest moments were spent teaching his son, Peyton, to embrace life’s adventures, from hunting and fishing to exploring sports and adventures in the great outdoors.

Gregg was born on August 6, 1968, in Lufkin, Texas, to Curley Evelyn (Cole) Durham and Squire Timothy “Tim” Durham. Gregg was a proud alumnus of Hudson High School and Stephen F. Austin University, where he became an esteemed member of the Sigma-Nu Fraternity (Mu Upsilon Chapter). His passion and drive led him to co-found Audio Plus (now known as Home Theater Concepts) with his partner J.P. Boyd.

In 2006, Gregg married Vanessa, the love of his life and his best friend. They celebrated each other’s dreams and supported each other’s pursuits. Their shared faith was a foundation in their lives guiding them through both joyous times and challenges. Together they worshipped at Carpenter’s Way Baptist Church where they formed bonds within their faith community.

Gregg is survived by his wife, Vanessa Wilcox Durham of Lufkin; stepdaughter, Lyndsey Lucia of Mauriceville; son, Peyton Durham of Lufkin; mother, Curley Evelyn Durham of Lufkin; mother-in-law, Sharon Bachman Wilcox of Vidor; father-in-law, Larry Wilcox of Mauriceville; sister-in-law, Saumer Crumpler of Mauriceville; nephew, Skylar Crumpler of Mauriceville; niece, Shelby Crumpler of Mauriceville; and many, many loved ones.

Gregg was preceded in death by his father Squire Timothy “Tim” Durham; and sister, Tina Renee’ Durham.

Pallbearers will be Roy Carroway, Jr, David Meyer, Tom Croley, J.P. Boyd, Jamie Thompson and David Bilbo. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Sigma Nu Fraternity (Mu Upsilon Chapter).
