Grace Marie Harden

Funeral services for Grace Marie Harden, 88, of Huntington will be held Friday, January 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Danny Dow and Thomas Riley officiating. Interment will follow in the Jonesville Cemetery.

Mrs. Harden was born December 16, 1929 in Melrose, Arkansas to the late Victoria Pearl (Huddleston) and James Robert Gray, and died Wednesday, January 10, 2018 in a local hospice facility.

Mrs. Harden was a longtime resident of Huntington. She was the Receptionist at Carroway Funeral Home in Huntington, where she was known as “Ms. Grace”, from the time it opened until her health would no longer allow her to work. She loved cooking, particularly baking, and enjoyed fishing and eating catfish. Mrs. Harden appreciated her neighbors, the Snelsons, who were gracious to share their catfish with her.

Mrs. Harden was known for never using a computer and keeping a manual ledger, and for her smorgasbord of Blue Bell. She was a sports fan and enjoyed watching any ball game. Mrs. Harden loved her “girls” and her extended family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Huntington Church of Christ.

Survivors include her daughters, Virginia Persano of Huntington, Cheryl Dickerson and husband David of Crosby, and Elaine Torres of Huntington; grandchildren, Joshua Stifle of Diboll, Emily West and husband Jason, Jenny Murff and husband Scott, all of Crosby, and Ben Dickerson of The Woodlands; great-grandchildren, Abbey Murff, Jack Murff, Garrett West, Gage West, Gunner West, and Gracelyn West, all of Crosby; nephew, James Gray and wife Marissa of Austin; niece, Jeanna Baker and husband Greg of Pasadena; and a number of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon Harden; and son-in-law, Ruben Torres.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Stifle, Ben Dickerson, Jason West, Scott Murff, Welton Miller, and Jason Miller.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday morning prior to the services.
