Gloria Darlene Bergen

Funeral services for Gloria Darlene (Richards) Bergen, 83, of Huntington, will be held Monday, July 30, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Pastor Jeff Wyers officiating. Interment will follow in the Shofner Cemetery.

Mrs. Bergen was born December 23, 1934, in Marcus, Iowa, the daughter of the late Lena (Armstrong) and Sam Richards. She died Thursday, July 26, 2018, at her residence.

Mrs. Bergen was a former resident of Dickinson, Texas, and had worked as a manager of convenience stores in Brazoria County.  She was also a homemaker and a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister.  She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, flowers and yardwork. Mrs. Bergen was a member of Temple Baptist Church in DeRidder, Louisiana.

Survivors include her sons, John Lloyd “Bubba” Bergen, Jr., and Merlyn Bergen, both of Huntington, and Melvin Bergen and wife Terri of Dickinson; daughter, Betty Cooley and husband Carlton of Ava, Missouri; grandchildren, Cody Bergen and wife Beth, Mellissa Landis, Kimberley Mathis, Jayson Mathis, Michael Cooley and wife Sandra, Urshona Martin and husband Chris, Ethan Bergen, Jeremy Rich, and Tiffany Rich; twenty great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives; and her beloved daschund, Mollie.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Lloyd Bergen, Sr., two daughters, Dianna Simons and Jeneva Wagley; granddaughters, Cassandra Gayle Bergen and Michelle Cooley; and ten siblings.

Pallbearers will be Cody Bergen, Jayson Mathis, John Bergen, Jr., Ethan Bergen, Merlyn Bergen, and Melvin Bergen.

Honorary pallbearers will be Claye Smith, Jeremy Rich, Robert Huepers, and Kedron Keels.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 West Frank Ave., Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon at the funeral home in Huntington just prior to the service.
