Gloria Adeline Anderson

Memorial services for Gloria Adeline Anderson, 90, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church Lufkin with Pastor Frank Starr and Pastor Kenneth Bunge officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Mrs. Anderson was born August 13, 1928 in Thompson, North Dakota to the late Valborg (Anderson) and Ole Kjorvestad, and died Saturday, January 26, 2019 in a local hospital. Formerly of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Mrs. Anderson had resided in Lufkin since May 2018. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Grand Forks and attended First Lutheran Church Lufkin.

Mrs. Anderson was a member of the American Legion Post 0157, VFW Post 3817 in East Grand Forks, Minnesota, and a Gold Star Member of Grand Forks Senior Citizens Center where she delivered Meals on Wheels among other volunteer activities. She was a huge UND Hockey fan and enjoyed playing Dominos with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Anderson lived a very active life, enjoyed dancing, gardening, crocheting, playing cards, and visiting friends. She was a people person. She was a faithful farmer’s wife from 1952-1969 alongside her husband. Mrs. Anderson enjoyed making lefse, rosettes and donuts. She painted her kitchen and bedroom with her favorite color, lavender. Mrs. Anderson was blessed with a sharp mind even in her final days.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Claude Mullins of Lufkin; son, Byron Anderson of East Grand Forks, Minnesota; grandchildren, Kate Ulrich of Lufkin, Jared Anderson of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, and Anna Neel and husband Jeremy of Crockett; great-grandchildren, Emma Ulrich, Tatum Neel, Ava Ulrich, and Trenton Neel; sisters, Aline Bell of Los Gatos, California and Doloris Slominski of Florence, Arizona; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 30 years, Arnold A. Anderson; and three brothers.
