Mrs. Cummings was born March 17, 1951 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Loeween (Milligan) and Ernest Winford Cloyd, and died Tuesday, December 16, 2025 in Corrigan, Texas.
Glenda Kay Cummings was a woman whose life was defined by love in action. If you were looking for her, chances were she was in the kitchen; cooking, baking, or creating something delicious for the people she loved. Food was her love language, and she delighted in sharing it, especially when cooking alongside her children and grandchildren. Every meal was an invitation, every dish a reminder that you were cared for.
Glenda was strong-willed and opinionated, determined in the best possible ways. She took care of people instinctively, often putting others’ needs before her own. Family always came first, and there was truly no such thing as spoiling a grandchild in her eyes. Once you became part of Glenda’s life, you belonged. She had a rare gift for making people feel seen, welcomed, and loved.
Her home was a gathering place, always open and always full. She made sure everyone had a seat, even if that meant she perched herself on a kitchen step stool to make room. A natural host and planner, Glenda poured her heart into celebrations of every kind: birthdays, weddings, holidays, and spontaneous get-togethers. She loved bringing smiles to others, whether through thoughtful planning, unexpected surprises, dressing up as a clown to deliver flowers to others, and would call all her kids and grandkids on their birthday to sing Happy Birthday and brighten their day.
Creativity flowed through everything she did. Glenda was endlessly crafty and seemed able to make or fix just about anything. She was known to build a fire even in 90-degree weather, turning down the air conditioning just to keep the Christmas Eve tradition alive. She loved hosting family game nights, especially playing Wahoo!, and cherished time spent laughing and playing with children and loved ones.
Glenda was devoted to the Lord and deeply loved her church family at Union Road Church of Christ. She lived her faith through service, kindness, and generosity, often quietly and without recognition. She had a habit of doing good in secret, never wanting attention for her acts of love.
Glenda lived with purpose, warmth, and unwavering devotion to the people in her life. She leaves behind a legacy of hospitality, laughter, faith, and unconditional love. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the kitchens, living rooms, and hearts of those who were blessed to belong to her life.
