Gladys Faye Mettlen

Funeral services for Gladys Faye Mettlen, 81, of Diboll will be held Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Vic Bass officiating and eulogy given by Jimmy Mettlen. Interment will follow in the Prairie Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Mettlen was born May 7, 1937 in Houston County, Texas to the late Ollie (Minton) and Homer Jones, and died Saturday, January 26, 2019 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Mettlen resided in Diboll most of her life. She loved cruises, doing puzzles, fishing, and spending time with her family. She attended Faith Family Church.

Survivors include her sons, Archie “Boots” Patton and wife Jackie of Buna, James “Spike” Patton and wife Kelly of Beulah, Homer “Peanut” Patton and wife Rhondah, Jimmy Mettlen and wife Carol of Diboll; daughters, Sherri Patton Montgomery and husband Dusty of Diboll, LaTonya Patton Weiland and husband Kevin of Alexandria, Louisiana; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Carolyn Jones of Hudson, Dale and Terry Grantham of Diboll; special friend, Charlie Mullins of Diboll; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ruby Ray Mettlen; granddaughters, Telisha Patton and Amanda Patton; grandsons, Homer Calvin Patton, Clayton Patton and Hunter Tobias; great-granddaughter, Marley Havard; brother, Floyd Jones; and sister, Reba Miller.

Pallbearers will be Justin Patton, Ethan Mettlen, Robin Robinson, J.R. Robinson, Hal Randy Hawthorne and Sean Hawthorne.

Honorary pallbearers will be Hoss Tobias, Kevin Patton, and Nathan Patton.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
