Gilbert Max Acosta, Sr.

Funeral services with military honors for Gilbert Max Acosta Sr., 83, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, December 15, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Foster officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Mr. Acosta was born May 5, 1941 in San Antonio, Texas to the late Lydia (Hernandez) and Ernest Barnabe Acosta, and died Sunday, December 8, 2024 at his residence. He retired from the U.S. Navy following 20 years of service.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Connie (Oates) Acosta; children and spouses, Vivian and Scott Getro, Clay and Shirley Acosta, Lucy and Phil Davidson, Gilbert, Jr. and Donna Acosta, and Ernest Acosta; stepchildren and spouses, Christi and Belinda Pool, Aaron and Ashleigh Guidry, and Meagan and Nick Lawrence; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lydia Ezzell and Frankie Zamora; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Julie Meyers, Lucy Acosta Booth, and Olga Acosta; and brother, Ernest Acosta.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon prior to the services.
