Graveside services for Gerrie Jean Williams, 84, of Round Rock, formerly of Lufkin, will be held Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Wells with Dr. Kris Segrest officiating.
Jean was born on August 26, 1940 in Nacogdoches, Texas to the late Lucille Busby Burnett and Ralph Bennett Burnett, and passed away Thursday, April 17, 2025 in Pflugerville, Texas.
Jean married her late husband Henry “Scooter” Evertt Wiliams on September 20, 1957 and enjoyed 64 years of a blessed life together. During their marriage, Jean and her Scooter were blessed with three children, Mike, Darren, and Phyllis. Both Jean and Henry believed strongly that their children would live a better life than them, instilled a strong work ethic in their children and stressed the value of education. As a result, all three children earned college degrees while working to put themselves through college. A core value that was taught in the home was the importance of faith. Jean and Henry led their family by example and were strong and faithful followers of Jesus Christ. For many years they were key leaders of Herty Baptist Church and in later years members of Parkside Baptist Church, both in Lufkin, Texas.
One name that Jean loved to be called was “Mimi” by her grandchildren. She loved each of the “kiddos” and enjoyed the time she got to spend with them during the holidays and during the summer. She was always so proud of their accomplishments and grateful to God for their health and the time she could spend with each. She and Scooter would travel to Austin, San Antonio, and Dallas to attend programs, ball games, and high school and college graduations to support the “kiddos”.
During the latter years, when her health and Scooter’s health was failing, they moved to Round Rock to be closer to their daughter, Phyllis. After Scooter’s death in October 2021, the devastating toll of Alzheimer’s took her lifelong memories from her. Today, we rejoice knowing that she is in Heaven, celebrating her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, fully whole again, and one day for us who believe in Jesus, we will join her in worshipping Him!!
