Mrs. Veteto was born March 10, 1933 in the Rocky Hill Community of Angelina County, the daughter of Brantley and Bertie (Brookshire) Summers.
Geraldine married the love of her life, James Veteto, when she was 17 and he was 19 beginning a life story that would span 72 years of better and worse, richer and poorer and sickness and health until death parted them in February of 2022 when she lost her James. She joined him again though on Friday, October 3, 2025 passing away from a heart attack. She always described theirs as a wonderful life.
Geraldine prided herself as a gardener. She loved to grow flowers and plants and she and James were well known for their vegetable gardens, especially their tomatoes. They were forever farmers at heart. She liked to can and preserve their harvests and was an excellent cook. She was a very hard working woman who never found idle hands even in old age She was always potting and repotting plants and sharing them with others.
Her family was her greatest joy. She enjoyed watching her great grands play sports and never missed their games. She was a true friend, a good neighbor and devoted to those she loved. She liked pretty glassware, game shows, old western TV shows and putting together jigsaw puzzles. She played a mean game of ’42 and loved to fish. She was dedicated to her cats that she thought the world of.
