The life and legacy of Geraldene McClure Runnels of Houston, formerly of Nacogdoches, will be celebrated Thursday, February 12, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joey Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Springs Cemetery in Etoile.
Geraldene McClure Runnels was born July 13, 1927 in Etoile to the late Nellie Luella (Partin) and Charles Vernon “Charlie” McClure. She went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 8, 2026. Geraldene grew up in Etoile, Boulder City, Nevada and Galena Park, with her parents; second father, Bean Glenn Muckelroy; grandparents, Bettie and Judge Partin; twin brother, Gerald; and other siblings, Nell, T. C., twins Bennie and Bettie, and Donna. Geraldene attended public school in Etoile and graduated from Galena Park High School in 1945.
She fell in love with Hurchial G. Runnels and they married on November 22, 1945 after World War II. They lived in Etoile, Victoria, Cleveland, Edinburg, and Spring Branch in Houston. Their final home was in Nacogdoches. She never left his side during his long illness and passing. They were married forty-four years. Her greatest joy was being a homemaker for her family. She has been living with Roger and Annie Runnels since 2016.
She is survived by one son, Roger H. Runnels and wife Annie; granddaughter, Elizabeth Atkinson and husband T.J. Atkinson; grandson, Joshua Runnels; great-granddaughter, Hope Geraldene Atkinson; great-grandson, Tommy Atkinson; great-grandson, Charles Runnels; and sister, Donna Lee. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and other family members.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Hurchial “HG” Runnels; parents; grandparents; two brothers; and three sisters.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Runnels, Charles Runnels, T. J. Atkinson, Tommy Atkinson, Tanner Franklin, Rusty Lee, Roger Dale Muckelroy, and Daron Lee.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Franklin, Skeeter Graves, Steve Withers, Travis Muckelroy, Dan Hoffart, Randy Lee and David Grant.
Memorial contributions to honor Geraldene may be made to Cypress Methodist Church at 13403 Cypress North Houston Rd Cypress, TX 77429 or Blue Springs Cemetery at P.O. Box 106, Etoile, Texas 75944.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon prior to the service.
