Funeral services for George Pucket Dunn, 92, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lester McAdams officiating. Masonic graveside services will follow in the Largent Cemetery under the auspices of the Groveton Eastern Star Masonic Lodge #284 A.F. & A.M.
Mr. Dunn was born December 18, 1927 in Lufkin, Texas, to the late Bessie Ora (Brown) and Ben Washington Dunn, and died Saturday, October 31, 2020 in a local nursing home. He was the last of five children.
Mr. Dunn had resided in Lufkin most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army and retired as a Day Foreman from Champion Paper Mill. Mr. Dunn was known for his carpentry, particularly his cabinet making. He was a member of the Groveton Eastern Star Masonic Lodge #284 A.F. & A.M. and a member of Oaklawn Baptist Church in Groveton.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Nita and Steve Currie of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Kirk and Robin Dunn of Lufkin; grandchildren and spouses, Nick and Marlynda May, Nolan and Tina May, Chris Dunn, all of Lufkin, Ben Dunn of Huntsville, Jeramy Nichols of Victoria, Jason and Candace Nichols of Huntington; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Hilda Lorraine (Weeks) Dunn; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Edward Hollis; granddaughter, Amanda Brock; sisters, Dorothy Weaver and Lila Largent; and brothers, Elbert Dunn and Rufus Dunn.
Pallbearers will be Nick May, Nolan May, David May, Jason Nichols, Ben Dunn, and Jon Cannon.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Dunn and Jeramy Nichols.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
