Garland "Butch" Spears

A memorial visitation for Garland “Butch” Spears, 72, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Carroway Funeral Home. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Mr. Spears was born July 2, 1952 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Gladys Myrtle (Kinard) and James Wiley Spears, and died Sunday, October 20, 2024 in a Tyler hospital.

Butch resided in Lufkin most of his life and worked in construction. He was a member of Pollok Baptist Church.

Survivors include his son, James Anthony “Tony” Spears and wife Shara of Keller; grandson, Kevin Spears of Fairbanks, Alaska; granddaughter, Kara Holmes of Keller; sisters, Malla Quay Moore, Kay Bowers and husband Ricky, all of Lufkin; nephews, Jimmy Hendricks and wife Stephanie of Broaddus, Mike Jones of Lufkin; nieces, Kim Samford and husband Stacy of South Carolina, Stephanie Dixon of Lufkin; aunt, Doris Bell; and numerous cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Kevin Spears.
