Fredrick Michael "Mike" Berquist

Funeral services for Fredrick Michael “Mike” Berquist, 65, of Huntington will be held Friday, November 24, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Lamar Denby officiating. Interment will follow in the Treadwell Cemetery.

Mr. Berquist was born April 29, 1958 in Lansing, Michigan to the late Betty Faye (Pierce) and Fredrick Allen Berquist, and died Friday, November 17, 2023, in Houston Methodist Hospital.

Mike worked as a Testing Supervisor for the Gear Box Division of Lufkin Industries and retired after 40 years of service. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Xenos. He loved modifying trucks, welding, and collecting guns. He was an avid bow hunter and also loved to fish. Mike enjoyed riding his Harley Fat Boy motorcycle with the Patriot Guard Riders to honor Veterans. He loved reading his Bible and books on prophecy.

Survivors include his wife Annie Emanis-Berquist of Cushing; daughter and son-in-law, Lindsay Berquist and Myke Harris of Houston; stepdaughters, Lacey Emanis and Danelle Emanis, both of Cushing; stepson, Dane Emanis of Reklaw; grandson, Xenos Berquist of Houston; step-grandchildren, Zoe, Asa, Eli, Jed, Boe, Shiloh; mother-in-law, Margie Green of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Susan Berquist of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Tina and Jerry Taylor of Lufkin; stepsisters and brothers-in-law, Joan and Ernie Farrar of Lunenburg, Massachusetts, Judi and Doug Goodall of Wetumpka, Alabama; stepbrother and sister-in-law, Don and Kim Peters of Marietta, Ohio; stepbrother, Jerry Peters Dunnellon of Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife and mother of Lindsay, Lori Green; second wife, Ginger Lumpkin; and father-in-law, Jack Green.

Pallbearers will be Joey Berquist, Aaron Berquist, Nolan Berquist, Barry Green, Bill Thorn, and Cliff Jordan.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Patriot Guard Riders.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday morning prior to the service at the funeral home in Lufkin.
