Franklin Brunson, Jr.

Funeral services for Franklin Henry Brunson, Jr., 83, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mark Wilke officiating. Interment will follow in the Alazan Cemetery in Nacogdoches County.

Mr. Brunson was born February 8, 1937 in Dallas, Texas to the late Mina Ethel (Morris) and Franklin Henry Brunson, Sr., and passed peacefully at his home Friday, June 19, 2020.

Mr. Brunson was a Maintenance Engineer at Lufkin State School for 13 years. He attended school at Texas A&M University and Lamar University. He was a 32 ^nd degree Mason and member of the Western Star Lodge #100 A.F. & A. M. and Grand Star Lodge of Iowa. He attended Carpenter’s Way Baptist Church.

Frank worked hard all of his life. He was the rock of the family as soon as he was old enough to walk. He cared deeply for those he loved and never failed to be there for life’s events. He enjoyed the simple things in life, and nothing brought him more joy than being with his wife, children, grandchildren, and cherished great-granddaughter.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Holland Brunson of Lufkin; daughters, Leah Duke of Lufkin, Monica McCloskey and husband Timothy of Houston, Cara Rydell and husband Edwin of Kingwood; grandchildren, Whitney Lowery of Lufkin, LeeAnn Huggs and husband Ben of Austin, Dr. Shannon McCloskey Wells and husband Michael of Pensacola, Florida, Ensign Tyler McCloskey and wife Karley of Houston, Amanda McCloskey of Houston, Justin Rydell and wife Kirsten of Tomball, Sean Rydell of Kingwood; great-granddaughter, Elise Kay Lowery of Lufkin; and numerous other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Timothy McCloskey, Edwin Rydell, Justin Rydell, Sean Rydell, Tyler McCloskey, Ben Huggs, Wes Danner, and Michael Wells.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
