It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Frances Green Harris Friday, April 10, 2026. Frances was born February 11, 1938 to the late Fred William and Flora Mae (Abshier) Green. She was born and raised in Hankamer, Texas (Anahuac) and lived a life marked by compassion, strength, and deep devotion to her family. Frances was a devout Christian woman who lived her life with a servant's heart. Frances was a registered nurse who was dedicated to her profession and loved what she did. After retirement she served as a first responder at Toledo Bend where she lovingly took care of patients until an ambulance or life flight could get to the remote area. She loved traveling and seeing all of God's amazing landscape! Pete and Frances had many adventures together, traveling and enjoying nature. She loved being at the lake, playing dominoes, camping, gardening, and having adventures with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Frances dedicated her life to caring for her son Chuck with awe inspiring dedication and everlasting love. Her preference for the color purple was indicative of her rich, royal character - loving, caring, adventurous, and always happy. The greatest lesson she shared with us is the importance of kindness and the act of showing unconditional love to one another.
Frances and her family want to express our heartfelt appreciation for the loving care that was given to her by her most loved caregivers, Patricia Bryant, Linda Lyons, and Darlene Hensley. She was taken care of by Visiting Angels and wonderful Elite Hospice nurses as well. They cared for Frances, Pete and Chuck as though they were family and provided such great care and love in her final days.
In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her brother, Derl Green; her sister, Rae Johnson; and several beloved sons-in-law, cousins, aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her husband, Pete Harris; her children, Chuck Schmidt, Cheryl Suiter (Wes), and Michelle Stephens (Jeff); stepchildren, Mike Harris (Dianne),Valerie Moss (Thomas), Ronda Davilla (David), Kelley Cate, Michelle Giraldo (John), Terri Harris (Tracy),and Alicia Haas (Sheila). She was deeply loved and is survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends, nieces, and nephews.
