Floy Cryer Griffey

Funeral services for Floy Cryer Griffey, 83, of Lufkin will be held Monday, March 18, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John W. Greene officiating. Interment will follow in the Dunk Havard Cemetery.

Mrs. Griffey was born December 6, 1935 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Nettie Oselee (Leviness) and Vestel Jefferson Cryer, and died Friday, March 15, 2019 at her residence.

Mrs. Griffey had resided in Lufkin for more than 20 years and previously resided in Beaumont for 25 years. She was an LVN at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas in Beaumont for 25 years. Her hobbies included traveling, square dancing, and shopping. She was very family oriented and most of all she loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Griffey was a member of Harmony Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Roy Griffey of Lufkin; stepdaughter, Brenda Griffey of Alaska; grandchildren, Lisa Geneva, Taz Neale, Shawn Phillips, David Springman, Melissa Springman, Nadayla Griffey, Victoria Griffey, Tamesia Griffey, Virgil Griffey, Chase Griffey and Nicole Griffey; numerous great-grandchildren; brothers, Victor Cryer, Verlin Cryer, and Rayford Cryer; sister, Nelda Alexander; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Patricia Ann Strickland; son, Miguel C. Martin; stepsons, Michael Griffey and Roy Griffey; brother, V.J. Cryer; and sister, Cynthia Stewart.

Pallbearers will be Rayford Cryer, Verlin Cryer, Vester Simien, Victor Cryer, Theron Stewart, and Jefferson Stewart.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Monday morning prior to the service at the funeral home.
