Florisa Maldonado

Funeral Mass for Florisa Maldonado, 82, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church with Fr. Joby Thomas officiating. Rosary will be recited Monday, November 25, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Mrs. Maldonado was born July 24, 1942 in Melchor Ocampo, Mexico to the late Teresa (Elizondo) and Cefèrino Cepeda, and died Thursday, November 21, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her husband and daughters.

Mrs. Maldonado and her husband Antonio founded La Unica Mexican Restaurant in 1978 and ran the business together for 47 years. She had a powerful entrepreneurial spirit and, with her husband, gave back tremendously to the community through their business and personal philanthropic ventures. She had a selfless and straightforward personality that allowed her to share her time and love with her entire family and proved she was the salt of the earth. There will be a tremendous void left in the lives of those she leaves behind, and she will be dearly missed by all. She was a loving, caring wife and mother.

Survivors include the love of her life, her husband of 64 years, Antonio Maldonado; sons and daughter-in-law, Luis Maldonado, Sr., and Antonio III and Paola Maldonado; daughters and sons-in-law, Silvia and Pedro Hernandez, and Martha Maldonado and Armando Vasquez; and grandchildren and spouses, Luis Jr. and Crystal Maldonado, Antonio Maldonado IV, Roxanna Maldonado, Dorian Rodriguez and fiancée Chasity, Hailey Hernandez and fiancé William, Hannah and Billy Leverett, Rocco Farrell, Dominique Aguilar, Santana Quintanilla and fiancée Hailey, Joaquin Quintanilla, and Dezi Quintanilla; Lila Vasquez and Noah Vasquez.

She was preceded in death by Francisca Saladana (Panchita); her parents; and brothers, Mario Cepeda, Arturo Cepeda, Valdemar Cepeda, and Sigifredo “Chito” Ceferino.

Pallbearers will be Dorian Rodriguez, Luis Maldonado, Jr., Santana Quintanilla, Joaquin Quintanilla, Antonio Maldonado IV, and Rocco Farrell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Pedro Hernandez and Armando Vasquez.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel.

La Sra. Maldonado nació el 24 de julio de 1942 en Melchor Ocampo, México, hija de la difunta Teresa (Elizondo) y Cefèrino Cepeda, y murió el jueves 21 de noviembre de 2024 en su residencia rodeada de su esposo e hijas.

La Sra. Maldonado y su esposo Antonio fundaron el restaurante mexicano La Unica en 1978 y diriguieron el negocio juntos durante 47 años. Tenía un poderoso espiritu emprendedor y, con su marido, retribuía enormemente a la comunidad a través de sus negocios y empresas filantrópicas personales.

Tenía una personalidad authentica, directa y cariñosa que le permitía compartir su tiempo y amor con toda su familia y demostró que era la sal de la tierra.

Quedará un tremendo vacío en la vida de aquellos que ella deja atrás, y todos la extrañarán mucho. Ella era una esposa y madre amorosa y cariñosa.
