Ernie Lee Teer

Funeral services for Ernie Lee Teer, 83, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ford Adkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.

Mr. Teer was born March 2, 1935 in the Alabama Creek Community of Polk County, Texas to the late Mary Vina (Sanford) and Dee Daniel Teer, and died Sunday, June 17, 2018 at his residence.

Mr. Teer resided in Angelina County most of his life and retired from Angelina Builders. He enjoyed old western movies, RFD TV, country and southern gospel music, hunting and fishing. Mr. Teer was known for pulling the trailer for the hayride at Halloween. He loved kids and would dress up as Santa Claus to visit throughout the community. Mr. Teer was active in the Lufkin Band Boosters during his children’s high school years. He also loved to garden. Mr. Teer was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Annette (Chambers) Teer of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Jan and Bubba Sheridan of Longview, Denese Runnels, Leigh Ann and Jimmy Hughes, all of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Lynn Runnels of Pollok; grandchildren, Bryan Tucker of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Amy Howe and husband Josh of Neosho, Missouri, Jessica Hill and husband Dustin of Austin, Meghan Runnels of Houston, Zachary Runnels of Lufkin, Andrew Hughes, and Morgan Hughes, both of Gilmer; great-grandchildren, Deacon Hill and Conrad Hill, both of Austin; brother and sister-in-law, Wilburn and Margorie Teer of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother and sister-in-law, L.G. and Juanita Teer.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
