Ernest L. Massingill

Funeral services for Ernest L. Massingill, 68, of the Fairview Community will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Robert Jones officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in the Gann Cemetery.

Mr. Massingill was born October 4, 1949 in Lufkin, Texas to Gladys (Whitehead) and P.J. Massingill, and died Saturday, December 30, 2017 at his residence. He had resided in the Fairview Community for 31 years. Mr. Massingill served in the U.S. Army, was an ordained minister, and was a bus driver for Hudson ISD for 17 years. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah (Heaton) Massingill of Fairview; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Sylvia Massingill of San Antonio and Daniel and Erin Massingill of Houston; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and James Bradshaw of Lufkin; grandchildren, Brandon Massingill, Andrew Mireles, both of San Antonio, Andrew B Massingill of Lufkin, Grace Massingill of Houston, and Priscilla Kuehner and husband Matt of Beaumont; great-grandson, Benjamin Kuehner of Beaumont; mother, Gladys Massingill of Fairview; sisters, Doreen Weisinger of Lufkin and Artie Nixon of Fairview; brothers and sisters-in-law, Travis and Betty Massingill of Springtown, Curtis and Faith Massingill of Fairview, and Jay and Lois Ann Massingill of Weatherford; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, P.J. Massingill; son, John Ernest Massingill; sister, Joyce Elaine Massingill; and brother, Burl Benjamin Massingill.

Pallbearers will be James Bradshaw, Andrew Massingill, Andrew Mireles, Brandon Massingill, Jay Massingill, and Delbert Ellison.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
