Funeral services for Emory “Spud” Kennidy, 75, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, January 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Rick Clark officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in the Sand Flat Cemetery.
Mr. Kennidy was born September 8, 1942 in Angelina County, Texas to the late Fannie (Tullous) and Luther Capps, and died Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at his residence.
Mr. Kennidy served his country in the United States Army. He worked for the Texas prison system and was a Jailer for Angelina County Sheriff’s Department. He also worked for English Drilling and Lufkin Industries. Mr. Kennidy liked fishing, gardening, and trying his luck on scratch off lottery tickets. He was a scrapper and enjoyed horse trading. He loved to joke and he was always drinking coffee. Mr. Kennidy was of the the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Kennidy of Lufkin; daughters, Melissa Walker and Casey Kennidy, both of Lufkin; son, Jason Kennidy of Lufkin; grandchildren, Zach and Richard Kennidy, Kain and Megan Kennidy, Katelyn Kennidy, Ethan Kennidy, and Clyde Raines, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Kain Kennidy, Jr., Ares Mayberry, and Percey Kennidy; sister, Margie Evans; special nieces, Rachelle Gonzalez and Martha Vaughn; special babies, Riley Coons and Brady Emory Gonzalez; special friend, Sy Stapleton; all six of his fur babies; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Emily Kennidy; granddaughter, Kylie Kennidy; four brothers, Junior, Roven, Bill, and Wayne; and two sisters, Wanda and Mary.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Havard, Fernando Gonzalez, Ethan Kennidy, Richard Kennidy, Clyde Raines, Jr., and Patrick Henderline.
Honorary pallbearers will be Zachary Kennidy, Kain Kennidy, and Ronnie Clinton.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
