Funeral services for Emma Steel, 89, of Hudson will be held Sunday, May 27, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend D.R. McNaughton officiating. Interment will follow in the Wallace Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Steel was born August 15, 1928 in the Church Hill Community of Rusk County, Texas to the late Carrie (Young) and Emmitt G. Floyd, and died Monday, May 21, 2018 at her residence.
Mrs. Steel resided in Hudson most of her life. She was known for her hard work ethic and devotion to her family. She had worked for Furniture Factory, Atkinson Candy Co. as a candy cook, Hudson ISD as a cook in the cafeteria, and Kids, Inc. where she was manager. Mrs. Steel was a member of Bethel Assembly of God.
Survivors include her son, Emmit “Butch” Steel of Hudson; daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie Jean and Charlie Murray, Teresa and Louis Randolph, all of Hudson; son-in-law and daughter-in-law, Richard and Pat Wars of Groveton; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, A.C. Floyd of Gilmer; sisters, Mildred Hamilton of Troup, Ann Gartman of New Summerfield, and Sue Steel of Church Hill; sister in law, Martha Lee of Houston; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Warren Jefferson “Jeff” Steel; and daughter, Margie Wars.
Pallbearers will be Lonnie Steele, David Lowe, Ricky Lynn Wars, Chris Bullock, Daniel Arres, Jeremy Steel, and Butch Steel.
Honorary pallbearer will be Jayden Rangel.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
