Elvin Wayne Scarbrough

Funeral services for Elvin Wayne Scarbrough, 75, of Lufkin, will be held Monday, August 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John W. Greene officiating.  Interment will follow in Fielder Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Scarbrough was born November 14, 1942 in Pasadena, Texas, the son of the late Vera Virginia (Squyres) and Guy S. Scarbrough.  He died Thursday, August 16, 2018 in a Houston hospital.

Mr. Scarbrough had formerly been employed with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a Warranty Supervisor for 20 years, and was a former 30-year resident of Channelview.  He loved to fish and garden, and enjoyed being outdoors. Mr. Scarbrough was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a member of Harmony Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Faye Scarbrough of Lufkin; his children, Cathy Dover and husband Gary of Lufkin, Melissa Pennington of Hudson, and Rusty McEachren of Thailand; grandchildren, Andrew Dover, Audrey Kohler, Bobby Pennington III., Brittney Bates, Austin Dover, and Katherine Pennington; two great grandchildren, Brooke Kohler and Kaylee Kohler; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Doris Scarbrough of Anahuac; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and James Martin of Dayton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law, Bobby Pennington.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Dover, Austin Dover, Bobby Pennington III., Christopher Rumley, Allen Dover and Jeffrey Dover.

Honorary pallbearers are the Sons of Beulah Bunch.

The family will receive friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
