Funeral services for Ellen Kaye Fitzgerald of Huntington will be held Monday, July 8, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Gene Hazell officiating, with reading of the eulogy by Crystal Holiday. Interment will follow in the Wheeler Family Cemetery in Wakefield.
Ellen Kaye Fitzgerald age 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday July 04, 2024 in Huntington, Texas. She was born on February 05, 1947 to her mother Ruby Jewel Jolly and father William Fred Jolly in Pasadena, Texas.
Kaye was a caring woman, always giving her time to others. She was a teacher her whole career until retirement. She began her teaching journey in Galena Park, moved to Corpus Christi, then finished her last 21 years in Diboll, Texas. Kaye taught many students in Diboll from 1981-1991, then she influenced and changed many lives through being a school counselor at Diboll ISD from 1991-2007. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Lufkin, Texas. Kaye enjoyed worshiping Jesus through her love of playing the piano.
Survivors include her husband, Ronnie Fitzgerald of Huntington; son-in-law Jeremy Havard of Diboll; step-daughter and husband Brenda and Jimmy Caldwell of Huntington; step-son and wife Todd and Lesleigh Fitzgerald of Center; step-son and wife Brad and Monica Fitzgerald of Timpson; sisters June Tyer of Livingston and Carolyn Soward of LaPorte; grandchildren Colton Havard of Diboll, Kaydi and Caleb Mobley of Diboll, Crystal and Brandon Holiday of Huntington, Samantha and Justin Martin of Diboll, Michael and Kayla Caldwell of Jackson Springs, NC, Ryan and Laine Fitzgerald of Leveland, Nicholaus and Stephanie Fitzgerald of Tyler, Luke and Robin Packard of Gary, and John Paul and Elizabeth Packard of Broaddus; great-grandchildren Slade Holiday, Lexi Martin, Lane Martin, Lane Packard, Grayson Packard, Emma Margaret Packard, Elizabeth Fitzgerald, Charlotte Fitzgerald, Brooklynn Havard, Paisley Mobley, and Waylon Mobley; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rene Havard; parents William and Ruby Jolly; and brother-in-law Ben Tyer.
The family would like to personally thank Huntington Healthcare and Rehabilitation and Harbor Hospice for their love and support.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Monday afternoon prior to the services.
