Funeral services for Jane Craig, 86, of Lufkin, will be held in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., followed by burial service at Concord Cemetery in Zavalla, Texas. Pastor Rick Williams will be officiating.
Jane was born August 9, 1937, in Zavalla, Texas to parents Herman and Mildred Barker. She peacefully passed away, surrounded by family, on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Woodland Heights Medical Center in Lufkin, Texas.
Jane was affectionately known as “MawMaw” to her eleven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Because she greatly loved cooking for her ever-growing family, she was never too far from her kitchen. She felt such pride and joy for her legacy of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Some of her other passions included antiquing as well as being outdoors. Spending time in nature brought her great contentment: gardening, birdwatching, or being at the cabin on the lake. Jane was also an avid basketball and tennis fan, and over the years, she cherished her pets and loved and cared for them deeply.
Jane is survived by children, Brenda Jones and husband Ed of Lufkin, Dr. Steve Widner and wife Kim of Austin, Russell Widner and wife Paige of Kingwood, and Mike Widner and wife Stacey of Bastrop; grandchildren, Tyson Smithhart, Lauren Tryling and husband Steve, Julie Burris and husband Jason, Jordan Jones and wife Lauren, Natalie Cooke and husband Brandon, Jackson Widner and wife Macy, Anna Hanna and husband Tim, Jameson Widner, Myles Widner and wife Amber, Brock Widner and fiancée Ashlie, and Cole Widner; great-grandchildren, Carson Kraus, Barrett, Brooke, and Boone Burris, Liam, Wyatt, Hayes, and Palmer Jones, Emory, Tucker, and Scarlett Cooke, Addison and Kirby Widner, Stafford Hanna, and Harrison, Hudson, and Hope Widner; brother, Jerry Barker; nephews, Kyle Barker and Steven Barker; and niece, Stephanie Berry.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Mildred Barker; husbands, James Widner and Donald Craig; sister-in-law, Mary Barker; and beloved aunt Josephine Wagstaff.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Jordan Jones, Brock Widner, Cole Widner, Jackson Widner, Jameson Widner, and Myles Widner.
Jane’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the Woodland Heights Medical Center ICU staff for their amazing care.
The family will receive friends and loved ones from 1:00 p.m. to 1:50 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel prior to the 2:00 p.m. service.
