Lufkin, TX

A celebration into her heavenly home for Elizabeth Rowe Westerman will be held Thursday, August 27, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Lufkin, Texas. A reception will follow in the Great Hall.

Jo Elizabeth was born August 20, 1945 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Mary Louise (Menefee) and Leeland Nelson Rowe, and died Tuesday, August 18, 2026 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, while visiting the beautiful mountains of Chama with the love of her life and dear friends.

Elizabeth was a lifelong resident of Lufkin, graduating from Lufkin High School in 1963. In the 64 years she and Tucker were married, they enjoyed many things together including traveling, hunting, and gathering with cherished friends. They were like peanut butter and jelly.

Elizabeth was blessed with so many friends she made in this life with her activities which included the Junior League of Lufkin, flower gardening, fishing, card games, tennis, cooking, bible study, First Christian Church and First Baptist Church activities, dominoes and crossword puzzles. She was a member of First Baptist Church Lufkin. Elizabeth was caring, loyal, a ferocious momma bear, a staunch advocate, funny, and had a quick wit. She said she had the most important job in the world, caring, supporting and providing a wonderful home for her husband and beloved children. She really shined when she was renamed “Gammy”. Her favorite “Gammyism” was “Anything for my little grandchildren”. As a great-grandmother, her pride and joy were abundant. Her legacy will be carried into countless generations because of her love.

Survivors include her husband, Tucker Westerman of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Ann Westerman and Tony Pruett of Texarkana; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Jan Westerman of Lufkin; grandchildren, Clark and Regan Westerman, Hanna and Peyton Drake, all of Bryan, Justin Pruett of Sandpoint, Idaho, Chantz and Kellsey Pruett of Salt Lake, Utah; great-grandchildren, Cole Westerman, Maker Drake, soon to arrive-Charlotte Elizabeth Drake, Lyanna, Ellie and Rory Pruett; sister-in-law, Judy Barbour of Kingwood; sister-in-law and husband, Wanda and John Allen Rolf of Cypress; cousins, Kris Hursey, Ernest and Janice Ann Rowe; as well as a host of other relatives and cherished friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved brother, Leeland Max Rowe.

Honorary pallbearers will be Max Mitchell, Eddie Smelley, Jimmy Bowman, Mike Gipson, Buddy Gibson, Mike Rheinlaender, Nathan Gann, Bob Anderson, Floyd Dobbs, S.E. Denman, and Rex English.
