Funeral services for Elbert Franklin Dunn, 99, of Lufkin will be held Monday, May 18, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Cindy Doran officiating. Masonic graveside services will follow in the Largent Cemetery under the auspices of the Wells Masonic Lodge #915 A.F. & A.M.

Mr. Dunn was born July 23, 1920 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Bessie Ora (Brown) and Ben W. Dunn, and passed away Thursday, May 14, 2020 in Lufkin.

Mr. Dunn was a veteran of World War II. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in the United States, Germany and France. Mr. Dunn was a welder, retiring from CRC Pipeline Equipment Co. and its divisions in 1982 after 32 years of service. He was a Mason of 67 years with the Wells Masonic Lodge #915 A.F. & A.M. He was of the Scottish Rite. Mr. Dunn was always building things (homes, bar-b-que pits, decorative items, etc.) or repairing things like farm equipment.

Survivors include his daughter, Judy (Dunn) Brister Fenley and son-in-law, Paul Fenley of Lufkin; son, Don Dunn of Lufkin; grandson, Israel Dunn and wife Viki of Aubrey; brother, George Dunn of Lufkin; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Sadie Allison of Lufkin; sisters-in-law, Laura Ann Allison of Pollok and Betty Landry of Silsbee; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 73 years, Velda (Allison) Dunn; grandson, Aaron Brister; sisters, Dorothy Weaver Capps and Lila Faye Largent; and brother, Rufus Dunn.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Largent, Craig Largent, Patrick Largent, Jeff Largent, Ryan Largent, Danny Ray Allison, Scott Broughton, and Richard Jones.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Wells Masonic Lodge #915 A.F. & A.M.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 1021 E SE Loop 323, Suite 300C, Tyler, Texas 75701, or Keltys United Methodist Church, 1867 Old Mill Road, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
