Edward Lee Cowsert

Memorial services for Edward Lee Cowsert, 81, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, May 20, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at San Pedro Baptist Church in Grapeland with Brother Tommy Hutto and Brother Bob Thompson officiating.

Mr. Cowsert was born September 10, 1936 in Anson, Texas to the late Dora (Thomas) and Dee Cowsert, and died Tuesday, May 15, 2018 in a local hospital.

Formerly of Grapeland, Mr. Cowsert had resided in Lufkin for three years. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was a licensed Commercial Pilot. He owned and operated Edward’s Sand and Gravel in Grapeland. Mr. Cowsert was a member of San Pedro Baptist Church in Grapeland.

Survivors include his daughter, Kimberly K. Temple and husband John of Lufkin; son, David Cowsert and wife Susan of Grapeland; mother of his children, Helen Lacy of Crockett; granddaughters, Kaylie Temple and Katelyn Temple; grandsons, Jonathan Temple and Wes Temple; and numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jewel Altenhofel.
