Funeral services for Edna Mae Davis, 75, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Earl Whitaker officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Repast will be held at Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church following the interment.
Mrs. Davis was born December 26, 1942 in Sweet Union, Texas, and died Saturday, June 2, 2018 at her residence. She had a 30 year career in the health care field at Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Davis enjoyed fishing, cooking and baking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She was a longtime member of Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sisters and brothers-in-law, Floria and Michael Washington, Gloria and Ralph Bean, all of Lufkin, Willie Alice Upshaw of Dallas, Elaine Gonerway of New Mexico, Tythia (Thompson) and Vernon Fowler, Gayle L. Gray, all of Lufkin, Denise Jones of Lancaster, Deidre Thompson Morris, and Ray Shaniqua Montgomery, both of Grand Prairie; brothers and sister-in-law, Curtis and Raquel Upshaw, Dale Upshaw, all of Florida, and Darrel D. Thompson of Lufkin; stepsisters, Gearlene Penson, Sue Beth Penson, and Priscilla Williams; stepbrother, Lemuel Hicks; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Mildred (Poole) and Willie D. Upshaw; father, Troy Thompson; husband, Tommy Davis, Sr.; son, Terence Davis; daughter, Tamesha Davis; brother, Ven T. White; and sisters, Vickie Releford and Lisa Thompson.
Pallbearers will be Michael Washington, Ralph Bean, Quincy Washington, Anthony Sanders, Lawton Menefee, and Darrel Thompson.
The family extends special thanks to Affinity Hospice, especially to Jennifer and Carolyn, cousin Melinda Murphy, Elmo and Helen Hightower, and others, for their care of Mrs. Davis.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
