Eddie Joe Corbitt

Funeral services for Eddie Joe Corbitt, 88, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, December 16, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John W. Greene officiating. Graveside services will be held Monday, December 17, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas with Reverend Elmer Sarratt officiating.

Mr. Corbitt was born July 6, 1930 in Perryville, Texas to the late Zela Mae (Bryce) and Eddie Maxie Corbitt, and died Wednesday, December 12, 2018 in a local hospital.

Mr. Corbitt had resided in Lufkin for 18 years after residing in Dallas. He was employed at DPL as a Shift Supervisor. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was known for his honesty, integrity and willingness to help others. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. His grandchildren knew him as “PawPaw” and remember how much he enjoyed playing 42. He provided quail for Christmas dinner every year. He was a 33 ^rd Degree Mason and a member of the James Ladd Burgess Lodge #1305 A.F. & A.M. Mr. Corbitt was a member of Harmony Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Jennie Corbitt of Lufkin; daughter, Vicki Davis and husband Stephen of Forney; son, Eddie Michael Corbitt and wife Gloria of Trophy Club; six grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, TJ Corbitt and wife Jerri of Hewett; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Polly Mullino Corbitt; daughter, Patricia Richardson; great-grandsons, Brendan Patton and Noah Myers; three brothers; and two sisters.

Pallbearers will be Chris Corbitt, Adam Davis, Mike Sims, Robert Toll, Trevor Toll, and Riley Davis.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon prior to the service at the funeral home.
