Ed M. Mason

It is with great sadness that the children of Ed M. Mason announce his passing on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at the age of 91 in his hometown of 44 years, Lufkin, Texas. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home and there are no services planned at this time.

Ed was born in the small town of Cut ‘n Shoot, Texas, the youngest of five children, November 22, 1930.

Ed was a proud Vet, having volunteered in 1950. He was trained as a ground/air operator for the U.S. Air Force, and as a member of the (ARS) 9th Air/Sea Rescue Squadron made many successful land and sea rescues.

Upon his return home, he married his lovely wife of 68 years, Bobbie Dee (Potts). They attended Stephen F. Austin State University together and both graduated with physical ed and teaching degrees. After teaching and coaching, Ed had a successful career in the life insurance industry.

Upon retirement he moved to Lufkin, built a beautiful home, and played lots of golf.

The family would like to thank Dad’s many good friends. We were all so lucky to have had him in our lives as long as we did.
