E.B. Berry

Funeral services for E.B. Berry, 84, of Huntington will be held Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Bob Killum officiating. Interment will follow in the Shofner Cemetery.

Mr. Berry was born March 8, 1933 in the Moffett Community of Angelina County, Texas to the late Biddie (McCoy) and Ernest Berry, and died Wednesday, September 20, 2017 in a local hospital.

Mr. Berry was a lifetime resident of Angelina County. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955, during the Korean Conflict and retired from Texas Foundries. Mr. Berry was named after his parents using the first letters of their names, Ernest and Biddie. He enjoyed fishing Sam Rayburn Lake and particularly enjoyed cooking fish for his family and friends. He also loved deer hunting and gardening. Mr. Berry was a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his daughter, Phyllis Berry Ellington of Huntington; grandchildren, Jase Anthony Berry of Lufkin, Jessa Neyland and husband Justin, and Clay Ellington, all of Huntington; sisters-in-law, Lola Bess Hanchey and husband Jeff, Emo Jean Walters, both of Huntington, and Zeffie Jo Harrison of Etoile; and a number of nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Norene Shofner Berry; son, Mark Anthony Berry; brothers, Escar Berry and Verlon Berrry; and sister, Annaline Shofner.

Pallbearers will be Howard Byrd, Travis Nerren, Franklin Loy Williams, Kevin Green, Greg Harrison, and David Harrison.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Hanchey, Junior Shofner, and Jim Shofner.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.
